Increase in Court Fees – 1 April 2018

Published March 2018

In 2016 the Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunal Service (NICTS) implemented an increase in court fees to be phased in over a three year period. The purpose of the fees increase is to cover costs associated with running the civil and family courts, including the enforcement of judgments.

The first increase came into effect in April 2017 with a 10% increase to court fees.

The next increase will be applied from 1 April 2018 with a further 7.5% increase applied to court fees. The new rates including County Court fees and Judgment Enforcement fees can be viewed here.

We would encourage all clients to action cases now in order to avoid incurring these additional fees.
