Renewal Rights

For some commercial leases governed by the Business Tenancies (NI) Order 1996 (BTO), the lease will not automatically terminate on the expiry date unless a tenant has vacated the premises.

This type of protected tenancy will continue at the same rent and largely on the same terms as before until either the tenant or the Landlord serves an appropriate notice. If your lease is protected by the BTO or if you are a Landlord seeking advice on renewal rights, please seek advice from a solicitor and a surveyor.
