Enduring Power of Attorney

An Enduring Power of Attorney (EPOA) is a simple document which appoints someone to look after your financial affairs in the event that you become incapable of doing so, either through illness or injury.  Although this is something you would hope never to need, we would always advise clients to put one in place.

If you become incapable and do not have an EPOA, in order to access your finances your family will have to go through an expensive and time-consuming court application, and will have a continuing obligation to report to the courts on their handling of your affairs – all at a time which is likely to be emotionally draining already.
