Background & Experience
I graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast with an LLB Honours Degree in Common and Civil Law with Hispanic Studies. I spent the third year of my degree studying at the Universidad de Salamanca, Spain. After attending the Institute of Professional Legal Studies, I qualified as a solicitor in September 2001.
I joined the Corporate team of MKB Law in November 2019 after having practiced for several years in another well respected Belfast firm.
I have a wealth of experience in both corporate and banking law advising local and international financial institutions, industrial and provident societies and borrowers across various sectors to include:
business sales and acquisitions
secured and unsecured lending for bilateral and syndicated facilities
asset based finance
cross border lending
restructuring, work-outs and financial distress situations
securitisations of receivables portfolios

I am cited in the Legal 500 2019 as a leading individual in banking and finance and I am ranked in Band 3 in Chambers and Partners 2019 with the following quote: “Deborah Archer has extensive experience acting for large banks and corporate institutions on a variety of financing matters. Sources report that she is ‘excellent at communicating and keeping you abreast of any issues that may arise’”.
I am a tutor at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies tutoring the trainee solicitors on the Business Law course each year. I have a keen interest in languages and am fluent in Spanish. I also enjoy playing and coaching hockey.
