Eamonn Burke

Background & Experience

I qualified from University College Dublin with a degree in Business and Legal Studies (B.B.L.S.) in 2000. On graduation, I worked as a law clerk in a solicitor’s firm in Dublin while studying for my FE-1s.

In 2003 I commenced my studies on the Professional Practice Course of the Law Society of Ireland. My Apprenticeship at this time was completed with a boutique Dublin firm specialising in commercial and residential conveyancing and property finance. I qualified as a solicitor in the Republic of Ireland in 2006.

Having moved to Northern Ireland in 2015, I joined a large Belfast practice working as a solicitor in the Real Estate Department advising on Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland real estate. In particular, I have in-depth knowledge of all aspects of Republic of Ireland property law and practice including acquisition and disposal of commercial and residential property, commercial leases, landlord and tenant law and site development. I have acted for institutional clients, overseas property investment funds, insolvency practitioners, fixed charge receivers, liquidators, property developers, local authorities, and financial institutions and  have experience of property issues pertaining to business acquisitions and cross border transactions.

I have acted in Liquor Licensing applications and have obtained and enforced Court orders for breaches of Tobacco and Food Hygiene regulations in the Republic of Ireland. I have advised landlords and tenants with regard to the Republic of Ireland Residential Tenancies Act 2004 (as amended) and the various rights and obligations thereunder and I have attended hearings, made submissions and represented clients at the Residential Tenancies Board in Dublin.

I am registered as a solicitor in Northern Ireland (practising), Republic of Ireland (practising), England/Wales (non-practising) and have obtained diplomas in Corporate Law and Governance, Finance Law, Commercial Litigation and Employment Law.

In my spare time I enjoy playing golf (badly!) and going to the gym.
