Jonathan Jackson is an Associate Director at MKB Law. Jonathan specialises in civil litigation with the majority of his practice comprising commercial dispute resolution for businesses and individuals, in particular dealing with:
- banking and financial services disputes;
- professional negligence claims for plaintiffs;
- land & property, contractual and intellectual property disputes;
- director, shareholder and partnership disputes.
Jonathan also has significant experience in personal injury and clinical negligence actions.
Jonathan has tutored at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies, Belfast, and has delivered seminars to other professionals in matters relevant to his areas of specialism.
2018: Successfully acted for the appellant in the Northern Ireland Court of Appeal case of Car Park Services Limited -v-Bywater Capital Limited  NICA 22. Court held CPS benefited from a leasehold interest in land as opposed to a licence.
2015: Successfully acted in a Judicial Review application by Glebe Public Houses in respect of a liquor licence for 16c Eglinton Street, Portrush; challenge to validity of Orders made under Article 12 and 31 of the Licensing Order (NI) 1996; court granted orders of certiorari.
2017: Successfully obtained six figure settlement in High Court Commercial List action for plaintiff; negligence/breach of contract/ breach of statutory duty in advice on pension investment.
2017: Successfully obtained damages for plaintiff in professional negligence action in High Court Chancery Division; claim against solicitors and accountants; negligence/breach of contract/breach of retainer in respect of insolvency advices.
2019: Successfully led the team in resolving a director/shareholder dispute and employee exit affecting a well known locally owned business.
2014: Successfully acted in injunction application against a major bank arising from restructure of bank and prejudice to customer. Claims in breach of bank/customer mandate; ability of bank to assign rights to third party; derivatives claim. Undertaking obtained to restrain assignment.
2019: Successfully acted for a sole trader in recovering substantial damages from a manufacturer arising from defective products fitted to the homes of 500+ customers
