Gordon, a long term member of the Chamber and current senior Vice-President, was officially elected as President at the Chamber’s AGM on Friday 10th June. The event, which took place at the Europa Hotel, was attended by Chamber representatives plus over 20 members from the MKB Law team who came to support Gordon.

The Belfast Chamber represents the interests of businesses across a range of sectors. The Chamber also works in partnership with organisations such as Belfast City Council and the NI Assembly to improve the prosperity of the city, and promote Belfast as a leading trade and leisure destination.

In his hand-over speech, outgoing President Hugh Black remarked on growth within the city: “Belfast has a great vibe about it at the moment – a lot of new retailers are coming back to the city and demand for Grade A office accommodation is also on the up – two great signs of positivity in the business community”.

Upon being presented with his Chain, Gordon commented: “It is such a great honour to be elected as President to the Chamber. When Anne Marie Kelly and I opened our law practice in Belfast 13 years ago, I would never have believed that we could become so integrated into the business life of Belfast!”

Discussing the year ahead, Gordon highlighted the Chamber’s plans to improve access to the city, secure regeneration funds, and develop relationships throughout Belfast and the wider community.

Gordon will be supported in his role by the Chamber’s Executive Council, and by the staff at MKB Law. Anne Marie Kelly, Director at MKB Law, remarked: “We are all extremely proud of Gordon, and know that he will do a fantastic job as President of the Chamber.”

One of Gordon’s first engagements as President will be a roundtable event to discuss the potential expansion of Gatwick airport and the associated links between Belfast and the UK capital.
